My Artist.
BIG SNIPE (real name is Jordan Drone) is an american hip hop artist, raised in the west coast. He is signed by DEF JAM records and is really big in the states and has done records with Jay-Z and Lloyd Banks but is still yet to come through to Europe but is working his way there. His musical inspiration are mainly people that he has worked with for example Jay-Z and T.I. are his biggest music idols. The stlye of music he has been gifted in his his poetical lyrics in a Hip Hop nature, it allows the people to get a feel of his life and he had worked so hard to get wear he is today. He performed in street rap battles, which lead to monetary rap battles and then performed in a small hall near his place of birth in Philadelphia. He was adored by people which lead to him to be heard of by DEF JAM and they got to know him and his work and decided to sign him. He has a mix of slow beats to heavy bass beats and raps above them which is difficult to do this mix but he brings it to the music world. His hard work and determination lead from sticking posters up on his wall of his idols, to actually being able to produce a track with; this brings across inspiration to young artists out there and is another reason why he is adored so much.

Review on my Pitch.
Overall, my pitch went really well most, if not all, people understood what i was doing and could tell by the data that i had provided the types of artists i was going to use, the colour scheme and what type of magazines mines could relate to. The feedback i got by people was brilliant, better than i had expected it to be. Many of my peers told me that my pitch was one of the best in the class; the questions people asked me let me give abit more information about my magazine but it wasnt a lot. Questions that i was asked were: What the name of my magazine may be, why i chose the price of my magazine to be at the top end. I answered these questions in a straight foward manner and let people understand the name and pricing of my magazine.
Forunately, the teacher came up to me afterwards and told me that my presentation was one of the best in the class. I can look at other peoples blogs to see what they've written on their blogs about my magazine and pitch; this allows me to get aa clearer idea of what people like about my magazine and any drawbacks in it. This will be very useful for when i start developing my magazine.
After i had done mine, several other peers had done their's too and there was a great variety of different types of music genres however i noticed that indie and rock and pop. I am eager to start designing my magazine because i have got all my research and audience and feedback so i think i am quite ready to get on a start making my music magazine.

Analysis of publishers for magazine.
For my magazine i will use a mixture of techniques from these magazines to develop my own and as my magazine will therefore link to them both, i believe they could both be eligable to produce my magazine.

This the part of my research and planning i been looking most foward to and have come up with a range of names to suit the genre of my magazine which is Hip Hop. 3 Contents pages.
This is a music magazine from a total different genre to mine and i chose to analyse this because i thought it would be differnet and wanted to see how it is or is not related to the way hip hop magazines are created. The first major thing i noticed about this magazine was that it was jam packed full of of text and pictures, where compared to a hip hop magazine contents would only have 2 pictures at most! The genre of this magazine is Indie/Pop and is full of different types of information because in the modern day, these types of bands and artists are more popular and followed as it is quite new and has a lot of audience. On the left hand side of the page, there is a big red list of different things that are within in the magazine, although the main articles in this magazine are on right hand side and in much bigger font to attract the readers eye better. They used rows to seperate the differnet articles from each other and have big headings in them so it allows the reader to know whats underneath these headings. They use the same font for most of the headings used on the page, especially the title of the magazine- all the other headings seem to come off this font because they all use the same font. The colour palette used on this magazine uses these colours: Black Red LightGrey and Yellow. This is typical for most magazines and can relate to hip hop magazines to because they also contain the same sort of pictures. The picturte they have taken for the magazine is much more casual than hip hop pictures, it just seems like they took the picture without them realising with shows that the genre of these types of magazines is much more relaxed and realistic. Even though it is packed with info, they still decided to advertise some offers they have on which i havent really come across on a magazine but it makes it more eye catching and will attract the customer more so it could be a good technique to use. |
Music Video.
This music video was recommended for me to look at and i like the outfits used, the video and the song itself. It relates to my magazine quite well. This music video is very humourous and i could relate myself to doing things like that and wearing SOME of their clothes too. I like the background settings used too, they all link well to my genre of my magazine and will most definately use some parts of this song as an inspiration to my magazine.

Target Audience Profile.
The type of person who will buy my magazine will firstly be someone is in into HIP HOP (mainly) but also R&B and Grime. The age of him will be around 20 and currently studying but wants a job which allows him to earn a lot of money, mainly in the business field. He will be quite big build in body size and dress smart in order to look good wherever they go and catch peoples eyes in all places. As you can see on my fashion blog post, that will be the type of colthing range they will go for. This is again high price clothing which is mainly done due to the brand name of the type of item they've brought. They like to show off their clothes so were them all the time when going out and even when they're at home, taking their shoes off will be odd. Bling will be important them so they will have a ear ring in one or both of their ears which has a silver diamond earing in. Sunglasses will be important as it gives them a boost in their eye catching technique. Girls are very important in their lives and they try it with many of them. They will drive flashy cars which have good music systems in their cars so they will try show off as much as possible. The type of artists they like is the artists that have good lyrics and big bass in the music. They don't like walking out with a magazine usually because it destroys their manhood a little but with THE LOOT and its high price tag they can pick it up and just walk out the shop straight with it and even maybe show off because not all people are gona be able to buy this magazine as it is very expensive, which links to his personality of showing off and blinging out.

Music Artist Influence.
50 CENT Another hip hop artist, brought into the music industry by Eminem. Became huge after his first song and then contiuned to make great songs. Produced and starred in his own movie which is about him and his life, one of my favourite movies. Part of a group called G- Unit who also make songs but mainly just chill with each other. I like how he has an aggressive voice which link to his lyrics and the beats in his songs. |
