The name of my Magazine.

This the part of my research and planning i been looking most foward to and have come up with a range of names to suit the genre of my magazine which is Hip Hop. Looking at different types of hip hop magazines the name Complex, Vibe and Spine magazine are some of the hip hop magazines i have come across.
Some of the names i have chosen are:

THE LOOT.

SENSAY.

PHUCK.

These are not definate names but are the most likely ones i will use. Just to know what people think of this name for my magazine, i will ask my target audience which ones they prefer.

If i come up with a new name, i will again ask people and see what they think.

On my colour palette i have shown some of the colours i am thinking of using. My magazine will mostly consist of Grey, Black, White and maybe another colour to make it abit unusual.

3 Contents pages.

50 CENT-  This is a contents page for a magazine that im not really sure off but is still to do with the genre of my magazine. This contents page has a big picture of Hip Hop superstar 50 Cent; the magazine used a big picture of him on the contents page to attract the audience more. He is looking directly into the camera and therefore connects with the audience better as it looks like he's looking straight at them by the way he is looking in the camera. The articles in the magazine have been listed down the right hand sign of the magazine but has not been done in that big writing because if the audience gets attracted by the big picture of 50cent then they will read what some of the aritcles are about so there is no real need to make it very big. The articles one the side have page numbers next to them so the reader can get to the pages they want to easier. Underneath each of the articles that are in the magazine ,whcih have been written in a bold font so they stand out more on the page so they catch the readers eye, there are subheadings which will give more information about the articles. This may have been done so that it induces the reader more to want to read the article and urge them more to buy it.
The colour scheme used in this magazine consists of 3 colours: Grey Black Red and White . These are typical colours found on many hip hop magazines and i intend to use something similar to this (see my colour palette for more info). The colours that are on 50cents attire match the colours used on the rest of the magazine. For example there is a patch of red on his back pocket on his trousers and they took advantage of this and used it on the page numbers for the cotents and other small parts on the page. The colour of his t shirt is black and they used the same colour to write out their list down the side of the contents page. He is looking directly at the camera but his facial expressions bring foward the point that you can get to know him better if you read the articles which makes it more attracting.

KANYE WEST- This is a contents page to the magazine called V. As you can see they have used a picture of Kanye West on their contents page and made it so that he takes up most of the page. His facial expressions show that he is looks kind of moody and miserable and these contrast with the colours because they are dull colours and represent the image of being dull and boring. The colour palette used in this is: Grey DarkGrey Black Red. However the red is very ironic in this picture because it shows a hand going across his body and placing a heart shaped object over the position where his heart is supposed to be within his body and this links to one of the stories in the magazine over a woman and Kanye. Although the colours show misery the use of the colour red kind of turns it on his head has the colour red usually has a sense of love and passion. As he is looking straight down the camera it shows he's engaging with the audience because the readers will feel he's looking at them. The outfit Kanye has on links to the background of the contents as they are the same colour and makes it seem like kanye and the magazine are one, which gives the audience a sense that some article will be about him. The brand of the magazine can be recognised by readers as there is a huge V in the background. 
Down the right hand sign on the front page, there is all articles listed down it so the reader can read what is in the magazine and also there are page number by them to allow them to navigate to the pages more easier. The text has been made quite small because they want the picture of Kanye to attract the audience first (hence them making it so big) and then for the reader to pick it up and buy it. In the bottom right hand corner there is information about the photographers of the picture and this may be a way of advertising to the readers.





This is a music magazine from a total different genre to mine and i chose to analyse this because i thought it would be differnet and wanted to see how it is or is not related to the way hip hop magazines are created. The first major thing i noticed about this magazine was that it was jam packed full of of text and pictures, where compared to a hip hop magazine contents would only have 2 pictures at most! The genre of this magazine is Indie/Pop and is full of different types of information because in the modern day, these types of bands and artists are more popular and followed as it is quite new and has a lot of audience.
On the left hand side of the page, there is a big red list of different things that are within in the magazine, although the main articles in this magazine are on right hand side and in much bigger font to attract the readers eye better. They used rows to seperate the differnet articles from each other and have big headings in them so it allows the reader to know whats underneath these headings. They use the same font for most of the headings used on the page, especially the title of the magazine- all the other headings seem to come off this font because they all use the same font.
The colour palette used on this magazine uses these colours: Black Red LightGrey and Yellow. This is typical for most magazines and can relate to hip hop magazines to because they also contain the same sort of pictures. The picturte they have taken for the magazine is much more casual than hip hop pictures, it just seems like they took the picture without them realising with shows that the genre of these types of magazines is much more relaxed and realistic. Even though it is packed with info, they still decided to advertise some offers they have on which i havent really come across on a magazine but it makes it more eye catching and will attract the customer more so it could be a good technique to use.

Music Video.

This music video was recommended for me to look at and i like the outfits used, the video and the song itself. It relates to my magazine quite well. This music video is very humourous and i could relate myself to doing things like that and wearing SOME of their clothes too. I like the background settings used too, they all link well to my genre of my magazine and will most definately use some parts of this song as an inspiration to my magazine.

Colour Palette.



The colour pallette ive decided to use on my magazine range from these colours because of the genre i have decided to use for my magazine which is Hip Hop. Looking at different Hip Hop stlye magazines, these colours seem to come up reguarly in many of the magazines so i have decided to keep it in this range. I like these sort of colours and as i am into Hip Hop i will use them on my magazine. I intend on using the grey in the backgroud and using other colours on top as they will stand out on the page and are clear read. I want to keep my front cover kind of simple but these colours will fill the effect of it being big and broad.
