Thank You for looking at my magazine and I hope you like it. I put a lot of time and effort into creating it and I made it exactly how I wanted it to be. The magazine links to my genre and context I chose and enabled me to create THE LOOT.

Evaluation Question. 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
As Harris Productions are already a well-known production company, they will be able to distribute my magazine easily and sufficiently as they will have experience about selling hot spots and so place my magazine in such places so it sells well. My magazine has a niche about it as it is top quality and contains a music context in it, which allows it to have a USP and sell better to a specific target audience who don't have as much information and quality like my magazine. XXL is the best magazine which can relate to mine and so I believe that the best publisher for my magazine will be the same people that publish XXL so that they can distribute my magazine easily and know how to establish it on the market.
As i have taken a lot of inspriation for my magazine from the well established magazine called XXL. The publishers for this magazine are called Harris Publications who were founded back in 1977; they would be the perfect for publishing my magazine as it links to the genre they create their magazine over. XXL magazine consists of many Hip Hop rappers which also links to the genre of my magazine and again makes them best publishers for my magazine. Due to XXL being such a established and popular magazine, by having the same publishers as them could hopefully take my magazine to a high level and allow the thousands of copies to be produced per month. XXL is a magazine which has the average price range on it which is around $2 per issue once they suscribe on it. The price of my magazine is £6 per issue and after it but also has a subscription box which saves the buyer a £1 and still leaves it in the top scale category. There is a massive gap in the market for this and will hopefully allow it to attract more people.
They ways in which my magazine can be distributed is mainly through being placed in shops and having large posters and flyers to promote the new and upcoming magazine. Once customers like the magazine, I could make a virtual magazine which can be viewed online as many people use the internet for their entertainment for artists and the music industry so I could produce and online version (which still comes at a price). When looking at the price range of magazine Harris Publications, they all have set price ranges and this is what I will do with my magazine when it is distributed and as it is a high price which takes it to the top quality price range for magazines, lowering the price by any means will not allow the magazine to stay at this prestigous position. This is known as Paid Circulation as the price of it will not change. The target audience for my magazine are people who love the hip hop culture and live by the rules of it; as it also appeals to the GET PAID crew social group who have good money which they will spend on the magazine and not think twice about the price of it. The reader can also suscribe to it which will mke it cheaper in the long run. Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
The main thing I improved on during the making of my magazine is the use of the software we used to make it. At first Photoshop was one of the most complicated softwares I have ever come across but then as I started to get used to it. The tools on Photoshop were perfect for creating a magazine as it allows you to work on the smallest detail on the magazine for example the 'spot healing tool' to cropping out a huge image with the 'magnetic lasso'. It took time to get used to the software and was quite a long task to make the magazine and get it right but it allowed to me make the magazine how it I wanted it. At first, I was not even able to crop out a image properly (as you can tell by the front cover on the prelim) but as I used the software I got used to it and it allowed me to perfectly crop out images, which you cannot even tell have been cropped from another background. In comparison to my prelim, my final magazine looks much more professional and has the effects on it that a normal magazine would have and I could picture it being on a shelf in the shops. My prelim was very minor, it looked tacky and looked as if it was made at school by a child. If there was a task to be done in which I had to use Photoshop, I'd be more than happy to do it, whereas when I first used it I was getting upset that it was a rubbish programme and so hard to use- but now I can manage it with ease.
At first, I knew what magazines looked like but I never thought I would have to design on but when I did, I thought i've got a good idea on what to do. When it came to making it, i stared at a blank screen because I had no idea. But as the course went on, I looked at a range of different magazines and analysed them carefully to get to know all the features used on it. After I had done my research and planning, I had a very clear idea on what I can include on my magazine and how to make it look professional aswell as stand out from the other magazines. I learnt different things about magazine, for example the reader always looks in the top left corner when the look at a page or the F and Z models on magazines and so I tried to adapt this onto mine as it would give it that professional touch. I also learnt how these convetions will appeal to my target audience. An example of this would be how I used a big mid shot image of my artist on the front cover so it catches the eye of the audience and the costume he is wearing will allow the audience to recognise that it is a magazine of their favourite genre and it will encourage them to want to buy the magazine. As you can tell from my front cover, I still used a big image of a person on it however, I didnt look at the way I was taking the image, the costume he was wearing or the pose he did. However, then on my final front cover, I really concentrated on these convetions and allowed my artist to put forward that image I wanted people to see him as which is rich, has attitude and likes to show off. Although, some points from my Prelim I did keep the same which are the big image and little text on the front cover; I had an idea of this when I started my Prelim because I have a magazine at home which I like the look off and tried to copy.
Finally, the colour scheme on my final magazine is much more creative and links to the genre better. On the prelim, I stuck to basic colours on the front cover but on my contents I tried to play around with colours and try and make it look more interesting. As a whole, I learnt a lot from this experience and gained new skills which will enable me to use new softwares more efficiently instead of sticking to the same old Powerpoints etc. Softwares like Photoshop, Scribd and Prezi have been useful during the making of my magazine. The final magazine, suits the standard and genre I wanted it to be and brings across the correct personality I wanted my artist to represent. The magazine can fit into a gap in the target market and relates to the genre very well.

TARGETS.
Now we're close to the deadline, every thing must be perfect so there's some things i still have to do:
- change the colour on the background of the dps
- make the font more outstanding on the dps
- make the contents look more crisp and neat.
- change the fonts and colours on the contents.

Feedback from teachers.
My feedback was no where near as good as i hoped it would be but it gave me a clear idea on what needed to be done and how i can make it look more professional.
The feedback started of with photos taken and as you can see from my mock ups, i just used images from the internet that linked to my genre and context of my magazine. For this reason I did not score any marks on these points and the main objective from this was just that i need to take my pictures. I was also told that the background colour of my magazine was way to plain and it needed something more to it, make it look more glossy and stand out better. As i am aiming for the top end market with it being quite expensive, i need to make it look more clearer and better. In addition, the fonts i have chosen on the cover do not stand out how they should. It is too flat and bland, so i have to find another font which looks more professional. The double page spread article does not match the genre of my artist as he is american and i added an english tone to it by using words that are not used in america like the word 'piss'. Finally, the colours on the contents page dont mix in with the colour pallette i used.

Evaluation Question- 1.
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of music magazines).
The title of my magazine is 'THE LOOT' and this links to the genre of my magazine which is Hip Hop. There is nothing like the name of my magazine out there as it is so different and a word that is not really used, which makes it unique. It's a very bold and short name which stands out and when it's said it has a very powerful tone, which also links to the way i have presented my artists on the magazine to represent power. I used positioning and mis-en-scene on my artist and this will get through to the reader. Therefore, I chose the title THE LOOT because it does really stand out. I did not use the Z or F models on my magazine cover because it did not suit the way i wanted my magazine to be represented, however I designed it so that it can be read very clearly and as all people read from left to right I positioned all the text on the left hand side of the page and put it in a collumn format so the reader knows where to read and in what order. The contents page also used this same layout however I put some of the information on the right hand side of the page but again used a collumn format for the things that are going to be in the magazine. To make it easier, I used page numbers next to the details about what will be in it so the reader can navigate more fluently. On the double page spread, i seperated the 3 collumns by same amount using guides and ruler which makes the magazine look much more professional. I made the article just about my artist called MYSTIC so i used a very big picture of him on the double page spread so it feels like the reader is close to the artist and it just focuses straight on the artist. The picture of the artist took up one whole page and has been placed on the right which was a mistake because normal magazines place the pictures on the left. However, the text I put on the right and made the word MYSTIC (the name of the artist) in big bold writing compared to the rest of the text because as the double page spread is about my artisit and i want it to stand out well. I wanted my artist to wear a suit because i wanted my magazine to represent power and used a range of features to bring across the theme of power. By wearing a suit, it shows authority and this is what i want my artist to show as he is an upcoming artist and has power through his music. As the magazine talks about my artist coming up from nothing and as he has just been singed by DEF JAM, the huge music label, and the magazine shows him with a bottle of champagne which shows a sign of celebration. Again the suit adds to this because it is very formal and worn on days of celebration because it looks smart. In addition, on the table where Mystic is sitting, there is a contract with a pen on it to show the reader that he has just signed onto a record label or is about too and the magazine got a picture of it. I made the artist wear a ring also because it makes him look more rich; the article tells the reader that he had no money but now has a lot of it and I used to ring to represent this. On the front cover, the picture of the artist has been framed so that he is looking upwards and the picture has been taken on a low angle to show he has high status and the reader is looking up at him because it is what he deserves. I used lighting to try and make it show that my artist is coming out of the dark as his face is more brighter than the back of his head; I made him pose so that his head is facing towards the left and he is looking in that direction so i was able to take this shot. I again used this theme on my double page spread as I used positioning, costume and mis-en-scene to re-create this shot of the artist to come out of his old self to his new by reaching the standard that he's at now with this record deal and money. For my front cover, I used a very bold font so that it stands out and catches the readers eye better and also links to this big picture of the artist because i want that bold effect. I used the same font as i used for the mast head for the name of the artist which has been written on the front cover because it looks more professional and shows that the artist is part of the magazine. I used a grey background so needed to use a font colour that stands out for the mast head so i used the colour white becuase it contrasts well with the background and also looks nice. I then used the same background colour for the rest of my pages on the magazine because this is my colour scheme and so mainly used the font colour black for other text because it goes with the colour scheme and can easily be read by the audience. The genre of my magazine is Hip Hop and i tried to bring this accross by making my magazine look like a Hip Hop artist as i looked at various magazines with the same genre and many of them were formally dressed so this is what i wanted mine to look like. I have also included the context of power and i wanted to make my artist represent this and used thre suit also. But back to hip hop, and the colour scheme i used is quite dark and simple but these are the type of colours you would see on a hip hop magazine. A lot of the props i used within the magazine like the ring, suits and chains are the time of clothing usually worn by hip hop artists. The article on the double page spread is a typical story of the life style of hip hop artists but without being stereotypical i got the initial idea from learning about one of my favourite artists called 50CENT and this again links to the genre of it. The poses of my artist also links to the hip hop genre as he poses in a very powerful and serious and hip hop is a very serious genre. My artist is represented being a very serious character and makes him look quite hard. The suit also indicates that he become quite rich and i used a ring and bottle of champagne to put this accross more. He seems as a serious character and this links to the genre as Hip Hop is very serious. The colour scheme is one of the most important elements of my magazine as i used dark colours which is what is used on many Hip Hop magazines and links to the genre better. As i wanted a context of it to be powerful, the dark colours bring this accross and make the magazine seem more serious and bold. On the contents page, i lightened it up a little so that it is a bit different and as there are many other pages on the magazine, the multicolours give the impression that there is more on there and it is not all about this one artist.

Language Register.
These are different types of registers i have researched that could be applicable to most magazines, newspapers etc.
Static Register - Where the content is set and never changes. For example biblical references or laws
Formal Registers - Usually impersonal. For example speeches and announcements.
Consultative Register - Mutually accepted form of communication. For example when you meet a stranger, conversation between a teacher and a student.
Casual Register - Used in friendship groups, slang can often occur. For example talking to your friend, 'gossiping' and emails.
Intimate Register - Private communication passed between family members, partners or other people who you have a close relationship with.
The register i will most likely use for my magazine is a casual register because it can relate better to my taget audience. However, i will mix some of the registers up as the genre of my magazine is Hip Hop and this is more of a serious filed and so may need to use registerss like formal register as well as being casual.

FeedBack For Magazine.
Luke Niblett looked at my magazine and gave me some feedback that helps me understand the current level I am working at. He started with the bad points and told me the title on my contents page is too big and doesn't like the way it splits in 2. I used a plain grey background on all my pages as it was the colour scheme I am going for but he said it would need to be made a bit more better and more on it. Obviously, I don't know Jay Z or Chris Brown so I didn't take the photos myself and this was another bad point he mentioned. Other than that he told me the layout of my magazine looked good and professional, even though I didn't use a F or Z model. He said the language of my magazine suited the genre of it and gave me a high mark for this. The photos I used on my pages were good sizes and suited the pages they were on; this allowed them to be clear to look at as well. He did mention that I didn't use photoshop but it did take me a very long time to crop out those pictures so maybe because he didn't realise that's what I did, my cropping must have been amazing!

MYSTIC.
Im thinking of using the Name MYSTIC for my artist. I asked people who like the genre i am using on my magazine and most of them prefered Mystic oppose to Big Snipes. I will have to change some things like my articles and magazine draft but it shouldnt be too hard.
Name change.
Im not really feeling the name BIG SNIPES for my artist now, im thinking of calling him BROOKLYN but im not sure, if anyone can think of any good names, let me know.
